Fire Department Headquarters, Columbus, O.  21121  Pub. by Haenlein Bros., Columbus, O. 109

Post marked Columbus, Ohio, Oct. 6, 1912.  Addressed to Mr. Lee Weaver, 94 Tremont St., Detroit, Mich.  [Detroit Post office corrected to 94 Tireman and delivered the post card]

“1346 W. Broad St, Col., Ohio   Hello, No, I haven’t forgotten you, but how about shorthand, typewritering, English, chemistry, and history?  Do you think I have any time for anything else?   I did turn away from them last week after exams and went to Rome with Essie [Koontz, Florence’s sister] & Mr. Griste [Charles McKinley Griste, the soon to be – 1913 – husband of Florence’s sister, Ethel Jeanette Koontz].  We won a few pictures.  Ans soon. FLO [Florence Koontz].”

OK, all those cards signed FLO were from Grandma Florence not some other mystery Florence that Grandpa was keeping in the wings.  I guess Mrs. O was just her chaperone when traveling without her mother.    Grandpa never referred to Grandma as Flo — Flossie, yes, Flo, no.  Also worth noting is that Grandma got Grandpa’s address dead WRONG, but wanted to make sure he got hers.  And they were inventing words back in 1912 as well — typewritering ?   Or, did we just shorten it to typing?
