A Merry Christmas – 1913

christmas1913

A Merry Christmas. 2085. Printed in Germany.

No post mark [no stamp] Addressed to Mrs. Effie [Lee] Weaver, 94 Tireman Ave., Detroit, Michigan.

“Many thanks for my jewl [sic.] case.  and Happy and Successful new year is the wish of sister Christeen. [Christinana Weaver Rinehart]”

Aunt Teen was the sister of Lemuel Weaver, Effie’s husband.  Dating of the card is based on the rest of the collection and correspondence covered in there.  This is another example of a bas-relief card where the front has been raised to make the picture pop and the back has indentations to make the writing difficult to scribe and to read.

The “Printed in Germany” post cards stopped showing up after the beginning of WW-I.
